The Technology Business Incubator established by the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT-TBI) is an award-winning non-profit incubator supported by the Indian Government and partner of ICD Impact in matters of social innovation, entrepreneurship, impact investment and international cooperating projects in India and the SAARC region. Collaboration, engagement and interaction between the partners has been strengthened in 2020 with the objective to bring the highest possible socio-economic impact for participating Indian communities.

KIIT-TBI has built an extensive network with technology business incubators throughout India as well as worldwide reaching the SAARC region, the European Union and the United States, to offer a range of incubation facilities and services to entrepreneurs and convert innovative ideas into commercially viable products, having incubated and mentored 200+ startups to date. These startups are active in the domains of IT and Engineering, Cleantech, Healthcare and Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Agri and Food Tech among other sectors in line with ICD Impact social innovation areas.

The ICD Impact-led Bridge for Billions/KIIT-TBI online technology business incubation program was rolled out in April 2020 and as many as 20 additional startups were taken onboard by KIIT-TBI for this unique cohort during the COVID-19 pandemic. The success of this pilot online incubation program made way for upcoming cohorts in 2021 with the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology and the expansion of similar programs to neighboring SAARC countries in the years to come.

Affordable Water Treatment for Developing Regions and Countries

Helioz is a Social Enterprise engaged in R&D and sale of affordable products for households in low-income countries.

Helioz R&D is a Red Herring Top 100 Research and Development company, which invents products for the next decades. First product is WADI – an inexpensive and easy to use water disinfection. The WADI is a solar-powered UV-measurement device that serves as an indicator for the process of solar water disinfection. The WADI has been tested by the WHO and meets its guidelines for drinking water quality. It provides households, schools and communities in the global south with one of the most cost-effective ways to enjoy access to safe water for many years to come, using nothing other than WADI and the power of the sun. WADI is a sustainable solution which traces the progress of water disinfection in a PET bottle. WADI works maintenance free for at least 5 years and costs less than 10 dollar.
By doing so, HELIOZ intends to improve the quality of these families’ daily lives and of the health care systems in their respective countries. HELIOZ makes use of green technology to create products which greatly enhance the quality of life, both in developing and industrial countries.
