The Consortium
Ethanol Impact Consortium (EIC)is pleased to announce their partnership with UNIDO‘s Council on Ethanol Clean Cooking (CECC) for Africa.
This partnership will strengthen sensitization of governments, institutions, donors, private sector, and other organizations creating a conducive ecosystem for Ethanol Clean Cooking. This will also facilitate country programs in African countries where carbon emission is a major challenge, and provide an alternative cooking solutions using ethanol as fuel through localizing ethanol production through micro-distillery models using Argo wastes (waste to energy and energy access approach) in the design of the country program. The associated benefits are many like better health of family without household air pollution, reduction in climate change from cooking, addressing localized SDGs on climate and related, local empowerment, micro industry development, carbon project development and financing, social impacts and impact financing, private sector development and donor engagements for grants and technical assistance.
We will be soon announcing our joint ethanol clean cooking country programs in Sierra Leone and Ghana. We appreciate our partnership with UNIDO and endeavor a long term association for this noble initiative on Ethanol clean cooking.
The Ethanol Impact Consortium (EIC) furthermore consists of Project Gaia (PGI), US and Africa, The Energy Nexus Network (TENN), Africa and International Consulting for Development of Impact (ICDI), Vienna and India have joined hands for dialogues in West Africa in furthering Ethanol in Clean Cooking. The EIC uniquely brings in, the ethanol science and chemistry, technology, innovation and scalability (PGI), local knowledge, energy advocacy, network and reach in West Africa (TENN), and impact program design, policy dialogues and interventions, manage and implementation (ICDI).
PGI – Project Gaia (PGI) promotes clean cook stoves that are powered by alcohol fuels – fuels that are clean, safe, and efficient. We help communities become energy independent by establishing locally-owned micro-distilleries. We believe that an investment in clean energy makes a resounding impact on family health, empowers women and girls, reduces deforestation, and mitigates harmful environmental emissions. We only promote truly clean technology.
TENN – TENN is a regional knowledge hub in Sierra Leone for scaling sustainable energy and clean cooking solutions. TENN provides leadership, best practices, research and advisory support on the synergies between energy and crucial energy-enabling SDGs in West Africa and East Africa. TENN is a driver for ensuring sustainable energy access, targeting economic development and improved well-being along the following work streams: 1) Leading action on energy access to support energy enabling SDGs for improved well-being, livelihoods, social services and economic development. 2) Building resilient energy ecosystems (i.e., the enabling conditions and processes) for scaling and replication of sustainable energy and clean cooking solutions and services. 3) Facilitating cross-sector dialogue and high-level engagements to strengthen inter-sector linkages, especially the nexus between energy and key development themes. 4) Providing evidence-based policy advice and technical services through cross-learning, applied research and analysis.
ICDI – ICD Impact based in Vienna/Austria and India, is a collaboration of experienced managers, consultants and associates in public and private sector, with a main focus in creating positive social impact through projects and programs that are beneficial for communities and their environment, following the United Nation’s SDGs and other selective impact indicators as guideline.

The West Africa Dialogues webinar on 29 November 2022 was participated by several Government Ministries in West Africa from the Member States, Private sector, International agencies, development sector organizations & Institutions as well as SMEs amongst others, The Honorable Speakers represented from ECREEE, UNIDO, AfDB, TENN, PGI and ICDI. Over a hundred attendees participated in this webinar, where many were present till the end of the session, for the Q&A.
The Q&A session was conducted accordingly. Most of the questions were answered, however due to the time limitation not all questions could be addressed. Nevertheless, these questions are being responded to accordingly, separately through email.
The overall feedback we received from the attendees was very positive; and for the webinar being very informative, relevant in the context. We have furthermore received genuine interests in collaboration on Ethanol for Clean Cooking.
